The amicable report: to facilitate the settlement of your accident
You are involved in an accident with no injuries. What to do in such a situation?
First, keep calm. Then, open the GAA Finding Amicable Application downloaded on your mobile, or take out the Finding Amicable Report stored in the glove compartment of your car.
Should we alert the police?
If there is a collision and there are no injuries or obstruction of the road, there is no point in calling the police. In these circumstances, the amicable report should be used. That's why it's best to download the app in advance, or keep a hard copy in the glove compartment.
On the other hand, when there are injuries, it is important to call the emergency services.
An easy-to-fill tool
To complete the amicable report, you must have in your possession:
your driver's license,
your registration certificate and
your insurance certificate.
If you use the mobile application, each party involved can take 2 photos of the damage that will be used by insurers. Finally, sign the Report and ask the other driver to do the same.
The application makes it possible to send a copy of the Mutual Agreement to the drivers involved and to their respective insurer, if they so wish.
In the case of a hard copy, give the other driver one of the copies, keep the other and send it to your insurer as soon as possible.
With this information in hand, your insurer can open your claim file and tell you what to do to have your vehicle repaired.
