A week's vacation in a mobile home: 3 trips
Have you decided to go in a motorhome this summer, but you are not sure where to go yet? We give you some ideas for weeklong itineraries from our beautiful country, with activities that will delight children.
The Meuse valley
Day 1: Drive quietly to Maastricht and stay on the edge of this cosmopolitan Dutch city.
Day 2: Maastricht - Liège. Stroll through Maastricht, admire its Roman bridge, ramparts and churches. Take the road back to Liège (via Visé) to enjoy the hectic life of the Cité ardente, without forgetting the Boverie park and the imposing Guillemins station. Pass through Thon and Mozet, two of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia, and stay in the Samson valley.
Day 3: Liège - Namur. Set course for Namur. Stroll through the alleys of the old town before setting out to storm its Citadel. Visit the underground galleries and the workshop of perfumer Guy Laroche.
Day 4: Namur - Dinant. Take the Dinant road, which will take you from one bank of the Meuse to the other. Take advantage of your day in this pretty town to take the funicular and go kayaking, two activities that are sure to be enjoyed by children.
Day 5: Dinant - Monthermé. Follow the stream to France, passing through the Ardennes to Monthermé. Take a break and take out the bikes for a family ride on the towpaths.
Day 6: Monthermé - Sedan. Before leaving Monthermé, admire the panorama that awaits you from the Longue Roche in the early morning. Then set off in the direction of Charleville-Mézières, its Place Ducale, its stained glass windows and its Rimbaud museum. Arrived in Sedan, visit its castle, before spending your last night near Mouzon.
Finistère, its capes and its bays
Day 1: Head for Brittany, towards Le Faou, in the magnificent Armorique Regional Park.
Day 2-3: Le Faou - Telgruc-sur-Mer. Visit Landévennec, the Crozon peninsula, Camaret-sur-Mer (without forgetting the megaliths of the Lagatjar alignments), Morgat and Telgruc-sur-Mer. Between capes, points, small ports and lazing on the beach (stop at that of the Virgin Island), you will be amazed.
Day 4: Telgruc-sur-Mer - Douarnenez. Go down at your ease to the bay of Douarnerez, with its fine sandy beaches which invite you to swim and its superb panoramas.
Day 5: Douarnenez - Pointe du Raz. Admire the jagged coastline, the sheer cliffs and the many points on your route to the rocky promontory of Pointe du Raz, sculpted by the ocean. Cape Sizun is an ideal region for hiking.
Day 6: Pointe du Raz - Pont-Croix. From village to village, stop at Primerlin and Audierne to enjoy the calm of these small seaside towns before arriving in the charming village of Pont-Croix with its cobbled streets.
Day 7: return to Belgium.
On the roads of Flanders
Day 1: Visit Antwerp, its historic heart, its shopping streets, the impressive MAS located in the trendy 't Eilandje district. If the children are accompanying you, a visit to the Zoo must be included in the program.
Day 2: Antwerp - Mechelen. Stroll through town to discover the beguinages and the Grand Place, without forgetting to climb to the top of Saint-Rombaut Cathedral.
Day 3: Mechelen - Upper Campine. Treat yourself to a breath of fresh air in the heart of nature with one of the marked walks in the Hoge Kempen Nature Park. You will also find many cycle paths there.
Day 4: Upper Campine - Hageland. This hilly region in eastern Flemish Brabant is ideal for hiking. Do not miss the Wijngaardberg vines cultivated as in the Middle Ages. If you have time, visit Leuven.
Day 5: Hageland - Brussels. Even if Brussels is not in Flanders, a visit is a must. Make it "touristy": Grand Place, Manneken Pis, Mont des Arts, Sablon, Atomium, Royal Palace ... And why not the Belgian Comic Strip Center?
Day 6 - Brussels - Ghent. Climb to the top of the Belfry to gain height and see the city at your feet. Stroll through the center, take a boat ride on the Leie, taste a local beer on a terrace and visit Saint Bavo's Cathedral. Don't forget to eat cuberdons!
Day 7: Ghent - Kortrijk. Discover the pretty whitewashed houses of the beguinage, push open the door of the Chapel of the Counts in the Notre-Dame church, admire the Broel towers on the banks of the Lys. Art lover? Take a detour to the island of Buda.
