We refuse to insure your car. You write to the Central Pricing Office
You want to insure your car but you can't find an insurer to take out the contract. You can then contact the Central Pricing Bureau (BCT), the authority responsible for setting the premium you will have to pay to be covered by the insurer you have designated.
To force a company to insure your vehicle:
- ask him to send you two copies of the form called the “subscription form”. It must issue them to you ( article A. 250-2 of the Insurance Code ). Return one of these carefully completed copies to him by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt, asking for a quote;
- if it refuses you in writing or if it does not respond within fifteen days following receipt of your letter, you have fifteen days to contact the BCT by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt ( article R. 250-2 of the same code ).
The BCT fixes, within approximately two months, the amount of the contribution according to the estimate provided by the insurer. He will notify you of his decision within ten days.
Please note: the BCT only intervenes for compulsory insurance, in this case civil liability for damage caused to third parties (passengers, pedestrians, other vehicle, etc.). You cannot demand that we guarantee you against theft or damage to the vehicle, for example.
