Termination for rate change
Contrary to what one can hear, the modification of your contribution, for example an increase in the insurance premium, by the insurer is not necessarily a reason for termination. The insurance code does not specify anything on this subject, however we can refer to the consumer code to refuse an unjustified increase and terminate the contract.
Indeed, article L121-110 of the Consumer Code specifies that "any proposed modification of the contractual conditions at the initiative of the professional is communicated in writing by this professional to the consumer at least one month before its entry into force, accompanied by the information, stated in a clear, precise and visible manner, according to which the latter can, as long as he has not expressly accepted the new conditions, terminate the contract, without penalty of termination and without right to compensation, up to a three months after entry into force of the amendment. "
The bonus-malus system is a formula for reducing or increasing your insurance premium depending on the claims for which you have been responsible. It takes place at each annual deadline. An increase in your contribution due to a change in your bonus-malus coefficient is provided for by law and will in no case be a reason for termination.
The annual indexation of your premium (or contribution) to the evolution of a benchmark index, an increase in applicable taxes, will not be grounds for termination either.
On the other hand, an arbitrary, unjustified increase may be a legitimate reason for termination.
If this is the case, once you have been informed of the change in the premium, you have 15 days to send a registered letter, your termination will be effective 30 days after sending this letter, which leaves you time to find a new insurance contract.
