Your Tile uses Bluetooth to connect to your device. Whenever someone running the Tile app on their phone moves within range of your Tile, their device will automatically and anonymously update your app with your Tile's latest location.

To set up your Tile, you need to download and install the Tile app for Android or iOS. Your phone will be the first Tile device added to your account. Even without Tile Mate or Slim, you can use the app on the web to find your phone.

 

Does the Tile app need to be enabled to find the phone?

 

The app must be open and running in the background to receive accurate location updates from your Tile and to ring your phone when it's within Bluetooth range (30-100 feet).
