Appearance
Nezuko is a young, fair-skinned little girl with visibly large and prominent fangs and pointed pointed fingernails with a pale pink shaded base color fading to a rosy-red color at the end where they point. Her hair is long, black and wavy. They reach just below his waist, taking on a flame orange color as they pass his elbows, and appear to be crimped into large straight ridges, carried laterally drastically to his left. She has soft-looking pale pink eyes that appear lighter in color around the edges of their irises, slanting downward toward the sides of her face and framed by particularly long eyelashes, the pupils of which may appear slit at the as it changes. In the manga, Nezuko can sometimes be shown with more than one bow. According to Tanjiro Kamado , Nezuko was known as a great beauty in their hometown. [3]
She wears a light pink kimono with an asanoha (hemp leaf) pattern, the paler pink lining, secured by a red and white checkered hanhaba obi with orange netting obijime and green obiage. Over it, she wears a long dark brown haori that reaches her calves, as well as a pair of zōri with pink suspenders and white tabi socks, wrapped in thick pieces of black kyahan-like cloth. Nezuko also wears a small pink ribbon on the left side of her head to keep her hair out of her face, as well as the bamboo muzzle Giyu Tomioka gave her, [4] which is secured around her jaw with a band of red fabric.
When Nezuko transforms into her awakened form during her fight with Daki, she loses both her gag and her shoes, as well as the sleeves of her haori and kimono. She grows a short white horn on the right side of her forehead and a vein-like pattern appears around her left eye, but her most striking new feature is the red and green vine-like pattern covering her skin, surrounding his arms, legs and chest.
As a human, she was very similar in appearance, the only differences being her lack of demon traits, vermilion hair, and pale pink eyes. Instead, Nezuko had all-black hair, tied in three low buns, decorated with pink ribbons, and dark red-colored eyes that only showed pale pink around their lower irises. She wore the same kimono, just without her haori and with a large white sheet tied around her, which she used to carry her little brother, Rokuta Kamado, on her back. [5]

Personality
Nezuko's friendly disposition.
As a demon, however, Nezuko seems to have forgotten a fair amount of her memories as a human, in addition to those related to her family, and therefore does not retain the exact personality she had before the transformation. She is still very caring and protective of humans whom she considers to be members of her family, though this is mainly due to the influence Sakonji Urokodaki had on her while she slept for two years. Nezuko also retains some of her human emotions, as she has been seen crying when sad and smiling when happy, but in general she seems more detached than her human cohorts, though she is still much more calm and less malevolent than most demons. Nezuko also tends to see the images of her siblings in other humans, such as Rokuta Kamado and Yushiro .
Since becoming a demon, Nezuko seems to have also become rather cheeky and doesn't seem afraid to fight; she fiercely guards her brother as well as her allies. She has also developed a strong will, which can be seen through her refusal to consume human flesh or blood, even when extremely injured or exposed to human blood, which can be seen when she refuses Sanemi Shinazugawa after he tries to lure him into biting it with his Marechi blood . [6] Her strong will remains even when she is no longer a demon, as shown when she purposely leaps in front of Inosuke to protect him from his own brother, who had become a demon and was trying to kill those who attack him. surrounded. Even though she could have been killed, Nezuko didn't hesitate to protect her brother.
On the rare occasions that Nezuko attempts to speak, she has been seen to stutter a lot, which may be due to her bamboo mouthpiece, which is rarely removed, and the fact that she did not speak for several years afterwards. his transformation. However, after developing a resistance to sunlight, which allows her to get out and interact with others more often, her speech has shown signs of improvement and she is able to fully pronounce the words if someone speaks. another has just uttered them, [7] or hears them repeated quite frequently. [8]
Nezuko's original personality as a human was that of a kind and caring girl who thought of others before herself much like her older brother, Tanjiro. Additionally, she was a responsible older sister for her younger siblings and often put their needs first rather than her own. [9] [10] Nezuko is not afraid to put herself in harm's way, however, protecting her friends from demons even after being returned to a human state. Nezuko's human and laid-back demeanor is also shown to support this fact after Tanjiro apologizes to her. [11]
Story
Nezuko meets her older brother, Tanjiro, for the first time.
Nezuko grew up on a mountain alongside her older brother, Tanjiro, and the rest of her siblings and mother, as the eldest daughter of the Kamado family. She presumably cared for her younger siblings as her mother's helper, as was briefly seen before her family died. Unlike Tanjiro, who was in charge of selling firewood in town, Nezuko usually helped around the family home.
Nezuko carrying her little brother, Rokuta.
The family was somewhat poor, and as a result, Nezuko sometimes had to go without things like new clothes in order to ensure that the rest of her siblings had enough food to eat. She didn't seem to consider it a burden and was content to simply help her family.
Synopsis
Final Selection Arc
Nezuko protecting Tanjiro from Giyu Tomioka
After a demon nearly kills her entire family, Nezuko is turned into a demon by it, Muzan Kibutsuji. At first, she is wild and even attacks her only remaining brother, Tanjiro. However, she regains her senses and quickly jumps in front of him to protect him from Giyu Tomioka when the Pillar tries to hurt him.
After this short fight, she falls asleep and Giyu orders Tanjiro to find a man called Sakonji Urokodaki. Her brother first takes her to bury their dead family, then she hides in a cave, seeing that the sun is rising, and waits for her brother to find something to carry her so they can travel during the day.
Thus, they head towards Sakonji's house, but encounter a demon, having just killed and eaten a family, on their way. Tanjiro attacks the demon, hitting it in the jaw with his axe, but his wounds heal quickly and he brags about his generative abilities. Enraged, the demon runs towards Tanjiro, but Nezuko chops his head off with one blow, knocking his body to the side as he continues to attack. Tanjiro and Nezuko manage to fend off the demon, slamming its head into a tree and throwing its body off the mountain. Sakonji suddenly appears and informs them that they cannot kill a demon with these methods.
Tanjiro hesitates to deliver the killing blow, and the sun eventually begins to rise, disintegrating the demon as Nezuko runs into the house for protection.
After a brief reprimand and test of their strength, Nezuko and Tanjiro are taken by Sakonji, who thus drags Tanjiro into the Breath of Water.
Nezuko then sleeps for the two years that Tanjiro spends training, not even waking up when he leaves for Final Selection. Sakonji takes care of her during this time, until he returns victorious from the selection, as his sister finally wakes up. She welcomes Tanjiro, kissing him and allowing him to release his fears about her.

She awakens for a moment and deals the killing blow with her newly awakened Blood Power , through her blood that previously stained Tanjiro's sword and through the same wires Rui used to tie him up to defend against the last. attack from his brother.
After this fight, Shinobu tries to stab her with poison but his attack is blocked by Giyu . Tanjiro tries to escape with Nezuko, but fails after Kanao kicks him on the back. Tanjiro asks Nezuko to run away and her jaw ends up shattered after a kick to her head. Nezuko then transforms into a small child and runs away. Arc Recovery Training
Nezuko is awakened by Sanemi , who stabs her in an effort to provoke her and her brother. Sanemi tries to prove that Nezuko is dangerous, uses her marechi blood as bait. Nezuko remembers her family and refuses to drink it. She ends up getting angry at Sanemi after being woken up and stabbed. She is transported to the Domaine des Papillons alongside her older brother.
Nezuko spends most of the time sleeping to recover her strength after first using her bloodthirsty power against Rui on Natagumo Mountain. Zenitsu tells him about their breath training and promises to take him at night, where the flower he is holding is growing. Also, he took the goldfish bowl from Shinobu's room without asking him and shows it to Nezuko. Later, Aoi finds him and beats him up. [12]
As Muzan is usually able to discern the location of Demons he has given blood to and thanks to Nezuko being taken to Ubuyashiki's headquarters, he should normally know where to find him, however it is learned that, like Tamayo , Nezuko unknowingly broke that bond. [13]
Infinity Train Arc
Nezuko comes out of her box, but she is surprised by Kyojuro Rengoku , who strangles a sleeping human. She tries to wake her brother by tapping him lightly on the head, then seeing that he doesn't wake up, she hits him with her head when she fails to wake him. However, due to the hardness of Tanjiro's forehead, she eventually cuts her forehead open and begins to bleed. This causes her to cry and use her bloodthirsty power on her brother. She uses it on the Demon Slayers' ropes after they have been put to sleep by the lower Rank 1, Enmu . She fights with her claws because she will fall asleep very quickly if she uses her blood. She is helped by a sleeping Zenitsu who states that he will protect her, which she looks on in awe. His admiration is quickly dissipated, however, as he falls back asleep mid-sentence and begins to snore. Both are defending three carriages of the train against Enmu.
After the train stops and during the fight between Kyojuro and Akaza , she falls asleep on Zenitsu's arms who is also asleep. Before dying, Kyojuro eventually recognizes Nezuko as a member of the Demon Slayer Army since she protected the humans on the train. Zenitsu puts it in the box to protect it from sunlight. [14]

Nezuko, seeming to have sensed something, stands up. As Sakonji asks the girl what's wrong, she rushes into the forest, seemingly aware of and drawn to Tanjiro's impending death. Kiriya , worried and wondering what to do, screams for her to be picked up. Kiriya then remembers his father's words to let Nezuko do whatever she wants and allows her to leave. Urokodaki is still chasing her but Nezuko is way too fast for him. She then jumps off a cliff, landing safely in the forest below. As Nezuko rushes to town, she begins to undergo drastic changes. Relationships
Tanjiro Kamado
Nezuko protecting Tanjiro from the Swamp Demon .
Tanjiro is Nezuko's older brother and the last living member of his family. So while Nezuko is normally calm and sweet, she becomes enraged and attacks any demon that hurts Tanjiro. Being the sole survivors of their poor family, they are both very close, trusting each other, and bearing strong brotherly love. He's probably the only one capable of calming Nezuko down quickly by calling her or singing her mother's lullaby.
After Muzan turns Tanjiro into a demon, Nezuko is the only person he doesn't deliberately try to kill or harm, even after she clings onto him and blocks one of his attacks. This might be possible because Muzan only asked him to destroy the Demon Slayer Army.
Zenitsu Agatsuma
Zenitsu running after Nezuko
Seeing her for the first time, Zenitsu falls in love with Nezuko at first sight. She apparently considers Zenitsu a "weird dandelion" [18] and did not initially seem to return his feelings. Although the two are rarely seen interacting together, Zenitsu treats her with affection and care.
Despite his cowardly nature, Zenitsu finds the courage to climb Natagumo Mountain upon realizing that Tanjiro (and by proxy Nezuko) were in Spider Family territory, intending to protect Nezuko. [19] During their recovery training, Zenitsu would sit next to his box and tell him stories about Tanjiro and their recovery training. Nezuko often responded by moving and scratching her box, suggesting that she enjoyed listening to Zenitsu's stories. [20]
As Nezuko returns to humanity, she begins to remember her time as a demon and in particular a memory of Zenitsu giving her flowers, hinting that she sees him in a good light. [21] Although at first she was nervous that he would declare her as his wife, the two along with Inosuke and Tanjiro would come to live together and in due time the two would get married and form a family that would bear great-grandchildren. children in the present moment.
Sakonji Urokodaki
When Giyu tells his master Sakonji about Tanjiro and his demonized sister as well as his belief that the two were different, Sakonji takes Tanjiro as his disciple while allowing Nezuko to rest in his house. Thought the two don't have too much interaction, both seem to care about each other. To ensure that Nezuko wouldn't succumb to her demon instincts, he did a (rare case of benevolence) brainwashing to convince her that humans were part of her family and should be protected. When Tanjiro survives the test to become a Demon Slayer and returns, he receives a hug from Nezuko and Sakonji. Later, Sakonji sends a letter to Kagaya Ubuyashiki , the leader of the Demon Slayer Army, citing that if Nezuko ever succumbed to his demon instincts, he would kill himself for his actions, demonstrating great concern for his well-being. being and of her confidence in herself and in her. Tanjiro. After Nezuko takes Tamayo 's drug to transform back into a human, Sakonji is the one at her bedside to watch over her. After meeting Sakonji again as a human, they warmly embrace.
Giyu Tomioka
When Giyu responds to the murder of the Kamado family, he tries to kill Nezuko since she had recently turned into a demon. He captures her and almost kills her even when Tanjiro begs him to spare her, believing that Nezuko is a threat to humanity like all demons. However, he is surprised when she chooses not to eat her brother but instead protect him. Despite his distaste towards demons, Giyu decides to give Tanjiro a chance and sends them to his master Sakonji for training.
Although Giyu and Nezuko don't have many additional interactions, they share a similar bond with Tanjiro. Additionally, Giyu protects Nezuko from being killed by fellow demon slayer Shinobu Kocho and promised to take responsibility for not killing Nezuko given her status as a Pillar and, should she ultimately decide to succumb to her demon instincts. and to kill someone, he would commit suicide, demonstrating his great faith and care for her.
Yushiro
At first, Nezuko felt threatened by Yushiro's presence, sensing that he was a demon. However, after seeing that he had no ill intentions towards her or Tanjiro, she no longer sees him as a threat and stops being vigilant around him.
Later, after their fight against the Balloon Demon and the Arrow Demon, she sees Yushiro as one of her little brothers, and strokes his head, despite his dismay.
Tamayo
Nezuko is seen to be comfortable with Tamayo, acting more childlike than she normally would. She sees Tamayo the same way she sees all humans: part of her family, especially an individual similar to her mother. This endears her to Tamayo, as she is touched that Nezuko sees her as a normal person, despite her demon status and past sins.
Sanemi Shinazugawa
When they first met, Sanemi had a deep hatred towards Nezuko due to her demon nature. He taunted Tanjiro by repeatedly stabbing Nezuko from inside the box with his nichirin blade with the intention of trying to prove to Kagaya Ubuyashiki that all demons eat humans, thus trying to indicate that Nezuko was a threat. He attempted to tempt Nezuko into attacking him by injuring her arm, seeming to believe she would since he possessed special marechi blood that even managed to hinder the First Upper Moon during their intense battle in the near future. . Unexpectedly, Nezuko turns her head away refusing to devour him even though he possesses marechi, the blood type that gave the equivalent strength to eat a hundred humans. Nezuko is irritated, which is indicated by her mad expression she displays towards Sanemi when she retrieved from her box. During Nezuko's transformation into a human, she recalls when Sanemi tried to devour her by displaying his injured arm.
After the battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, Nezuko now a human, again runs into an awkward encounter with Sanemi. Asking if his injuries were okay, he bluntly replies that his injuries are okay. He then apologizes to Nezuko for everything he had done to her in the past and sleeping all the time after Muzan's defeat. To ease the tension, Nezuko tells Sanemi that she slept for two whole years and hinted that she liked sleeping, which briefly reminded Sanemi of her younger brother, Genya. He pats her on the head and smiles at her before parting, leaving her flustered with embarrassment.
Shinobu Kocho
When first encountered, Shinobu tries to kill Nezuko due to her demon status, but is quickly shielded by Tanjiro and shielded by Giyu. However, during Nezuko and Tanjiro's trial at the Hashira meeting, Shinobu feels sorry for the siblings when questioned, later showing concern for the two, even allowing them to stay in his mansion and move on. to rest. While Shinobu still harbors a deep hatred for demons as a whole, this doesn't seem to extend to Nezuko, in part because she sympathizes with Tanjiro and her benevolent nature is similar to her sister 's . When Nezuko transformed back into a human, she recalled the time when Shinobu also allowed Nezuko to look at her pet goldfish. [22]
Kanao Tsuyuri
Although they have little to no interaction in the series, Nezuko cares about Kanao enough to be distraught when Tanjiro (now a demon influenced by Muzan) hurt Kanao and calls her Kanao chan, implying that there is a certain closeness between them. After Tanjiro marries Kanao, they become sisters-in-law.
Mitsuri Kanroji
Nezuko first meets Mitsuri at the Hidden Blacksmith Village. They enjoy each other's company and have a relationship that can be considered sisters. Also, Nezuko likes to make Tanjiro style his hair like the Pillar of Love. [23]
Tengen Uzui
Nezuko meets Tengen in the pleasure district. At first, Tengen didn't accept Nezuko for being a demon and wanted to kill her and Tanjiro for breaking army rules. When Nezuko used her Blood Power to burn Gyutaro's poison out of her body, Tengen expressed gratitude towards Nezuko for saving his life with his women also showing signs of gratitude. After the battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, Tengen and his wives visited Nezuko who is human again, and Tanjiro while inviting them to visit them one day. Nezuko expressed her joy when Tengen lifted her onto his shoulder.
