Only 10 vehicles remain under the $ 20,000 mark in Canada
2021 Forte GT Sport
2021 Mitsubishi Mirage
The redesigned 2021 Nissan Kicks has been updated to provide even more features, technology, customized style and value that buyers are seeking in a compact crossover. New changes include standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto ™, a refreshed exterior styling with a bold new “Double V-motion” grille and an updated interior with a new center console, new seating and trim materials.
2021 Chevrolet Spark
It's 2015, Nissan announces a brand new Micra for $ 9,998. A real new car for less than $ 10,000. At the same time, the Mirage at Mitsubishi is a tear more than $ 10,000 for a base version. The Honda Civic DX is barely $ 15,000, the base Hyundai Accent $ 13,299, $ 14,000 for a Kia Rio. The choice was still very good for an affordable small car. Seven years later, the average price for a new vehicle in Canada is over $ 40,000 and that for a used vehicle is around $ 28,000. We wonder where this will end?
Fortunately, there are still a few affordable candidates. We have prepared a small list of the least expensive vehicles that you can currently find on the Quebec market.
1- CHEVROLET SPARK $ 10,398 (MANUAL BOX)
Here is our all-category champion. It offers four seats, a 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine developing 98 horsepower and 94 pound-feet of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or optional CVT. All Spark models are equipped with a 7-inch color touchscreen in the center console. It offers good space and decent comfort for a city car.
2- MITSUBISHI MIRAGE $ 14,098
Here is the only other surviving subcompact models on our roads. It is not only more expensive than the Spark, but also much less interesting
Its weak 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine that develops 78 horsepower and 74 lb-ft of torque is anemic. For $ 14,098 you get a 5-speed manual transmission, while a bad CVT is offered as an option. The only advantage you'll get with this car is fuel economy.
3- NISSAN VERSA: $ 16,498
It was the Versa that sort of replaced the Micra. It offers the same 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with 122 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque and a little more space. It also comes standard with a manual transmission and optional CVT. A nice, interesting and well-built little car for those who want affordable and comfortable transportation from point A to point B.
4- KIA RIO $ 17,295
Here is a car that offers a lot for the price. It is comfortable, well built, well guaranteed, offers a suspension capable of making long journeys enjoyable with a practical tailgate and plenty of space for the format. You also get Apple CarPlay / Android Auto as standard, a 1.6-liter 120 horsepower / 112 lb-ft of torque 4-cylinder engine paired with the standard 6-speed manual or optional CVT. Lots of fun for the price.
5- HYUNDAI VENUE $ 17,599
With the disappearance of the Accent, the Venue replaced it. It is also the most affordable small SUV in the country. Powered by a 121 horsepower, 113 lb-ft 4-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed manual or optional CVT transmission. Even in the base version, the 5-passenger Venue has an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto / Apple CarPlay, heated front seats and power side mirrors. Built for the city, you're only entitled to front-wheel drive.
6- KIA FORTE $ 17,895
Here is the twin sister of the Hyundai Elantra taking off at a slightly more affordable price. You are entitled to more space than the Rio with better soundproofing. Kia includes the Android Auto / Apple CarPlay wireless system, heated front seats, cruise control and the Kia 5-year / 100,000-kilometer factory warranty as standard. An excellent quality / price ratio.
7- HYUNDAI ELANTRA $ 17,899
Heated front seats, 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto / Apple CarPlay wireless system and alloy wheels are all standard. Power comes from a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder developing 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission (CVT is optional). Despite the coupe-like appearance of the front-wheel-drive, five-passenger Elantra, head and legroom are plentiful in the rear. As with Kia, you are entitled to a 5-year, 100,000 km warranty.
8- NISSAN SENTRA $ 19,198
The Sentra has had a great facelift recently with great success, let's face it. In the basic S version, the Nissan tra
