How to cancel your auto insurance ?
An automobile insurance contract is compulsory as soon as you own a vehicle (car, motorcycle, scooter, camper van, quad, 4x4, cart ...) and commits you for a period of 1 year, at the end of which it is renewed automatically. The main formulas are all-risk auto insurance, third-party auto insurance (civil liability), and driver insurance.
You can first cancel your auto insurance following door-to-door sales by exercising your right of withdrawal within 14 days of signing it. Then, during the engagement period, you can terminate for several reasons: sale or donation of your vehicle, theft not covered by insurance, loss or destruction, death, but also in the event of a change in professional situation (marriage, divorce , moving, etc. .. having a consequence on the insured risk, or a modification of the insurance premium.
In accordance with the Chatel law, your insurer has the obligation to inform you of your option to terminate at the end of your contract by respecting a notice of 1 or 2 months according to the general conditions.
Finally, if your contract is more than 12 months old, you can change auto insurance at any time with the Hamon law.

The right of withdrawal does not apply in the context of a remote subscription on your own initiative (by internet, telephone, or fax) in accordance with Articles L112-2-1 of the Insurance Code and L211-1 of the insurance. You have 14 calendar days to cancel your contract. If the last day falls on a public holiday, then have one more day. If the last day falls on a weekend, the deadline is also extended until the following Monday.
