Racism العنصرية

Racism or racism is a form of race, especially the belief that one race is superior to another. Racism can be expressed individually and consciously, through explicit thoughts, feelings or actions, or socially and unconsciously, by institutions that promote racial inequality.

In the 19th century, many racist beliefs and practices legitimized through scientific theories about biological differences between races. Today, most scientists have rejected the biological basis of race or the validity of "race" as a scientific concept. Racism then becomes discrimination based on an alleged race. Racists themselves generally believe that humans are divided into different races.

There are two main definitions of racism today. One of them claims that racism is discrimination on the basis of an alleged race, the other - more recent - one declares that racism has begun to include discrimination based on religion or culture as well.
Racism

Turkish children playing in a muddy yard; faces of Vietnamese girls stuck to the windows of dirty barracks; security guards with their firearms standing near the fences. It is an area of Cottbus, a German industrial city that the police are trying to protect. It's more like a prison than a shelter for immigrants increasingly exposed to the violence of racist groups like skinheads.

Earlier this month, gangs of lawless young Germans started attacking Vietnamese, Turkish and African workers. The authorities then dispatched the victims to places like Cottbus. Indeed, a wave of anti-immigrant violence is sweeping Germany. Every day brings a new spectacle of terror. Fortunately, violence is limited to small, uncontrolled groups. Most Germans are outraged by these racist gangs and consider them criminals and delinquents in search of entertainment. Thousands of Germans marched in Berlin and other cities to protest racism. However, foreign workers in Germany still fear for their lives and their families and do not feel completely safe. Some plan to return to their home country.
