Physical portrait
We begin by evoking the age of the person (teenager, young, old ...) then the size (short, stocky, high ...) then the mass (thin, fat, big-bellied, obese, corpulent ...) finally the attitude (weight , flexible, graceful, prompt ...).
The face
The choice of some characteristic details of the character's face allows to announce his moral portrait:
• the face may be lean, bony, wrinkled, smooth ...;
• its oval shape, square, rounded ...;
• complexion white, brown, pink, bloodshot, tanned, pale ...;
• a cheerful, sad, cold, smiling face ...;
• brown hair, red, wavy, golden, fawn, smooth, frizzy, bushy ...;
• the narrow, broad, bulging, flattened forehead ...;
• eyes flaming, sunken, alive, sparkling, surrounded, drooping, teary ...;
• the nose turned up, camus, eagle's beak, hooked ...;
• thin, fleshy, thick, smiling, half-open mouth ...;
Cheeks cheekbones, hollowed, chubby ...;
• the round, square, pointed chin ...
The members
• Shoulders wide, narrow, square ...;
• Hands soft, thin, massive, muscular, wrinkled ...;
• Muscular legs, big, arched, slender ...;
• The majestic, graceful, lively, proud, stiff, lame, elegant ...
After drawing the physical portrait by choosing the particular elements of the character, we must talk about the occupations of the latter (veterinarian, unemployed, architect, manufacturer, judge, dentist, farmer ...)

The moral portrait
The character or social situation of a character is most often suggested by the gesture, the expression of the face, the way of speaking, by a habitual occupation, by an exemplary act ...
But we must also speak:
• intellectual qualities of the educated, cultured, intelligent, wise, lucid, scholarly character ...;
• generous moral qualities, charitable, loyal, honest, frank, kind, ambitious ...;
• intellectual defects illiterate, illiterate, uneducated, stupid, weak ...;
Moral defects impolite, avaricious, hypocritical, curious, arrogant, obnoxious ...;
It is also necessary to paint the portrait in action of the person, that is, to present it in action. The portrait in action sheds light on the character of the character.
Some tips
● The portrait needs to be enriched by comparisons and metaphors.
Example: The eyes of a doe (metaphors).
● The oppositions further enrich the portrait.
Example: She would have liked to be clever, but she was only disaster.
