CV is strategic in your job search, job, internship ... you
must seek perfection by its content and structure to facilitate the reading of
your resume and the understanding of your course by the recruiter.
To create your resume (Curriculum Vitae) or redo your resume,
first see a sample CV!
Each resume is unique and no CV resembles each other, but
there are indeed models ... classic or original. After following the tips to write the content of your CV, an
example CV will allow you to choose the layout of it. Attention the layout of
your resume is not neutral but reveals to the recruiter a part of your
personality: a classic layout can show a strict and orderly character, a more
original layout with color for example will show a more creative and playful spirit!
It is up to you to choose the head you wish to give to your CV and therefore to
your application.
General presentation of the Curriculum Vitae
You will find below the rules of presentation to obtain a CV
of quality:
- CV is your business card
- A Curriculum Vitae must not be signed and must not be dated
- It must follow a timeline and must be readable (easy to
read)
- Avoid spelling mistakes
- The CV should highlight the key elements of your profile
- Use simple and short sentences
- Be creative and organize information strategically on your
resume. An original CV template will tend to show the recruiter your creativity
and this indirectly.
- Include only information you deem useful and important
- Keep in mind that anything you put into your resume can be
used by the recruiter during the interview. Avoid lying!
- Avoid redundancy. Try to be clear and think about using
action verbs, which will reflect your dynamism.
The main parts to include in your Curriculum Vitae are:
- Your personal information (contact)
- Your skills (software, languages mastered ...)
- Your professional experiences
- Your studies and / or training
- Your interests (sports and / or associative activities,
leisure, humanitarian causes, etc.).
The different parts of a resume
Your personal information (contact)
This information must be at the top of your resume, they
introduce your resume. In this section you should find all of your information
such as:
- Last name and first name
- Address
- Telephones (fixed and portable)
- E-mail
- Age
- Photo (highly recommended)
Your skills
In this section, you must include all the information that is
the strength of your application and is likely to attract the recruiter's
attention. Write these short sentences in strategic ways, because they will
serve you to differentiate your competitors (languages, software mastered,
etc.).
Your professional experiences
List jobs, internships, etc. which you have occupied in
recent years. If you have many professional experiences, keep only the most
relevant to the position you are looking for.
For each job /
internship, be sure to mention: the name of the company, the length of time you
held the position, the name of the position held, the missions carried out and
the results obtained.
Your studies and / or training
In this part of the CV, you must specify the various studies
and / or training you have carried out: schools, colleges, universities, ...,
diplomas and other training obtained.
Your interests
This section should be located at the bottom of your resume.
You must specify your leisure activities, sports and / or associative
activities, travel, etc. This part aims to show your involvement in different
activities to that of work and to reveal your passions and affinities.
Tips to Make a Good Curriculum Vitae
- Print it before sending it, to judge its rendering when
printed. Indeed, it often happens that the rendering of your resume on computer
is different from that printed (color, margin, size, etc.).
- Read it once printed. Ask someone in your family or friends
to correct it. In this way you will know if your CV is readable and
understandable.
- Make sure that every information written on your resume is
clear and accurate.
- Ask yourself these questions: Does my CV reflect my
personality ?, Is my CV convincing ?, In his place, would you trust this person
to fill this position ?.
Sample CV - Additional tips for your resume:
• Layout and colors: before sending your CV, test your resume on several
computers (mac, pc, tablets ...) to make sure that your resume is accessible to
all and that its layout is well respected on any medium. Also test black and
white printing. To avoid any compatibility or other problems: save your resume
in PDF format (install a mini software that allows you to do it for free -
example here)
• Remember that you can have two different CV styles, which you will send
to different types of contacts or businesses. Also depending on the positions
or jobs targeted you can highlight some experiences more than others with
different versions of your resume.
• Resume CV and online CV: these CV examples are valid for resumes that
you send by mail or post ... you must also submit your resume on specialized
sites like Monster, Cadremploi, Apec, Moncv.com ... sites then propose to
publish your resume in their CVthèque open to recruiters, but also to export
your resume in PDF or Word format. Submit your resume on Linkedin and Viadéo:
specialized networks very consulted by recruiters! Consult our tips to master
your image on the internet.
Good CV and good luck for your job search or internship.
